Darfur is a mess:
- UN is calling for urgent actions as ration cuts continue in Darfur: millions of displaced Sudanese in Darfur are facing their third month of ration cuts due to violence and attacks on trucking convoys.
- Political moves: Ethiopia PM & Dutch minister, Arab League chief in for talks, France asked to help.
- UN agencies warn that violence against humanitarian aid workers, a lower-than-expected harvest, and rising food prices could lead to a food crisis. Water and sanitation services are already stretched. See also AP article.
- Efforts to fix Darfur require efforts to address peace in the region and the proxy war between Chad and Sudan.
- Criticism of Islamic nations that have continued to be silent on Darfur: CNSNews.com, AFP. Thirty-six civil organizations from 12 Arab countries have formed the Arab Alliance for Darfur.
- Analysis of the complexity of EUFOR peacekeeping operations.
