Neal Dikeman, writing in CNET.com…, takes issue with the goals that Gore laid out in his energy speech. He (and many critics) feel the 10-year goal is too close. The reasoning being laid out reminds me a lot of the reasons for criticizing the world evangelization goals in 1890 and again in 1990 - there just wasn’t enough time. Gore has reasons (his view on the permanency of climate disruption). But one needs to be careful, when setting goals, that they are both plausible and seen as plausible. If they aren’t seen as plausible, a lot of time is going to be spent convincing people of the goal, and less time actually moving toward it–which takes away valuable time that will be needed. It will be interesting to watch the climate movement on this particular obstacle.
