[edit] Church Planting

  • Church planting is a process by which new church congregations are founded and established, particularly in areas where no church is presently active. This is usually accomplished with help from a denomination, a church planting center, a local church or churches, a network, a mission organisation, and/or other church planting resources. The term can be applied to the establishing of churches as a legal entity and organization, as well as establishing an organic simple church or house church, which may or may not be formally organized. Related to church planting is the idea of church planting movements.

[edit] Church Planting among Buddhist

  • A church planters' vision is to see churches multiplying throughout a large unreached people in South-east Asia. They seek God for a team of 12 units (couples or singles) by the end of 2008. They need two more units from abroad plus six more local co-workers. They hold a monthly prayer meeting to help Buddhist background believers (BBBs) pray faithfully for non-believing relatives and friends. During 2008 they hope to see participants starting their own prayer meetings. Most BBBs have become Christians as individuals rather than in families. There is a nedd for a new passion for BBBs to reach their families and for a mighty display of God’s favour and grace!
  • Pray for people to teach English, music, or art and craft to help with outreach. The people could come from as little as four weeks to as long as two years. The team of church planters would also have opportunities to go into the local schools.

[edit] Church Planting in Thailand

  • Praise the Lord with us, too. Jesus is becoming increasingly known in Thailand, and lives are being miraculously transformed! What a joy to speak of new Thai and Karen believers! But in our joy, we remember that each has an incredible journey ahead. Social conformity can be so strongly valued here. It can be a struggle for new followers of Jesus to break free from certain social trappings. Much wisdom and protection is needed.

[edit] Church Planting in Mongolia

  • A church planting team is planning to relocate to the western provinces to reach a minority nomadic group. Traditionally these nomads venerate the spirits of nature and worship at local owoos (stone pyramids). Please pray for these people's hearts to be softened and for the team to be well-prepared. There is also another plan to seek to start a work among the minority Buriat Mongolians who have moved from their native land in Russia into Mongolia. Their language is different from Mongolian that it is like learning a new language. Please, pray for the initial contacts.

[edit] An example from West Africa

  • A church planter who first came to West Africa in January 2007 as a short-term teacher at a computer school. He was fruitful in personal evangelism. Several of the young men he met are praying daily that the True God will reveal whether they should follow Jesus or Islam. A couple of men have already given their lives to Christ. Another secretly reads the Bible at night. The church planter is in contact by phone.
  • “Many people are sitting listening to the tapes in the weekly market, which is encouraging and even more important than the fact that there are many books being sold.
